You Are His Witness (Sermon Notes)
Lesson Title: The Ministry of the Saints – You Are His Witness
📅 Date: July 6, 2025
📖 Text: Isaiah 43:10 (NKJV)
“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He…”
I. BACKGROUND: THE CONTEXT OF ISAIAH 43
· Israel is in captivity, experiencing spiritual decline, surrounded by idols.
· They feel forgotten, powerless, and disconnected from their identity.
God, through Isaiah, reaffirms three key truths:
1. Their Covenant Identity
Isaiah 43:1 – “Fear not, for I have redeemed you…”
➡️ Even in exile, they are still His — redeemed and chosen.
2. His Sovereignty & Faithfulness
Isaiah 43:15–17 – “I made a way through the sea…”
➡️ God reminds them of past deliverance to reaffirm future hope.
3. Their Kingdom Assignment
Isaiah 43:10 – “You are My witnesses…”
➡️ Even in exile, they are still called to testify and reveal Him to the nations.
II. RECAP: PLACEMENT WITH PURPOSE
Ephesians 2:8–10 – Saved for good works prepared beforehand.
Jeremiah 29:7–11 – “Seek the peace of the city… I sent you there.”
📝 Your location is your assignment.
We are agents of Kingdom transformation wherever we’re placed.
But we must walk in the Mind of Christ:
· Posture of humility, obedience, and surrender
· Power flows through posture, not performance
· Saints are called to represent, not just participate
III. THE TEXT: IDENTITY & REPRESENTATION
Isaiah 43:10 – “You are My witnesses… and My servant whom I have chosen…”
Key Insight:
· Purpose is not just church attendance — it's Kingdom representation
· We are ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20), not spectators
· Our lives are meant to display, not just belong to, the King
IV. 1 PETER 2:9 — OUR SET-APART IDENTITY
“You are a chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, peculiar people…”
Breakdown:
· Chosen Generation – Divinely elected
· Royal Priesthood – Authority and intercession
· Holy Nation – Set apart from world systems
· Peculiar People – Peripoiesis = God’s personal possession
➤ Not "odd" — but uniquely owned, completely surrounded by His claim.
🗣️ “We don’t just belong to God — we represent Him.”
V. WITNESS = עֵד (ED)
Hebrew Word Study:
· עֵד (‘ed) – Witness, evidence, testimony
· Ayin (ע) – See, perceive
· Dalet (ד) – Door, access
➡️ A witness is one who sees clearly and becomes a gateway for others to know truth.
🗣️ “You don’t just tell it — you live it. You become the door through which others encounter God.”
VI. THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: EXPERIENCED, NOT THEORIZED
1 John 1:1 – “What we have heard, seen, looked upon, and handled…”
· The Christian life must be experiential — not just informational.
· If you haven’t seen it, heard it, or lived it — you can’t witness it.
📝 “To be a witness is to live the Word, not just know it.”
VII. WITNESSES MUST CARRY EVIDENCE
Acts 1:8 – “You shall receive power… and be My witnesses…”
· Power is the evidence of experience
· ➤ Your transformed life is Kingdom power on display
Obedience and surrender release power — not gifting alone.
🗣️ “The lack of power is not Satan’s fault — it’s our lack of surrender.”
VIII. THE WORD MUST BECOME FLESH IN US
John 1:14 – The Word became flesh
Acts 4:13 – “They perceived they had been with Jesus”
· We are now the Body of Christ
· ➤ The Word must show up in how we live, love, lead, and obey
📝 “If the gospel hasn’t changed us, we’re not witnesses — we’re readers.”
IX. WITNESSES = ENCOUNTER PEOPLE
Throughout Scripture:
· Moses — saw the bush
· Isaiah — saw the Lord
· Paul — heard the voice
· Disciples — handled the Word
🗣️ “A true witness isn’t just quoting sermons — they’ve seen too much to be silent.”
X. FAILURE TO WITNESS CREATES GENERATIONAL LOSS
Judges 2:10 – “There arose another generation who knew not the Lord…”
Why?
· The previous generation stopped witnessing
· The transfer of covenant was broken
Word Study:
· “Knew” = yada – covenantal, experiential knowing
· They didn’t know, didn’t experience, and weren’t taught
Deuteronomy 29:29 – What’s revealed belongs to us and our children
➡️ When revelation is not retained, it’s lost
🗣️ “If we don’t witness, we risk raising a generation with no knowledge of God or His works.”
XI. THREE DIMENSIONS OF BEING A WITNESS (Isaiah 43:10)
1. Know Me — yada = deep, relational intimacy
2. Believe Me — aman = trust, stand firm
3. Understand Me — bin = perceive with clarity
God calls you to:
· Experience Him
· Trust Him
· Discern Him
And then testify to others through your life.
XII. COVENANT FAILURE = KINGDOM SILENCE
· Israel didn’t stop believing — they stopped testifying
· They stopped modeling, and the witness disappeared
· The result: Spiritual inheritance was not passed down
🗣️ “What God revealed to you is meant to be walked in, lived out, and passed down.”
XIII. FINAL CHARGE: WHEN THE SAINTS STOP WITNESSING…
The world stops seeing
Truth becomes theory
The next generation walks in confusion
Our witness doesn’t just save souls — it saves generations
Ministry of the Saints is:
· Not optional — it’s generational
· Not individual — it’s intercessory
· Not just about calling — it’s about covenant continuity
XIV. CLOSE
Judges 2:10 – The generation that knew not the Lord was the result of silence.
Deuteronomy 29:29 – “Revealed things belong to us AND our children…”
➡️ We must live, guard, and pass down revelation.
🗣️ FINAL THOUGHT:
“When we stop living it, the next generation stops believing it.”
“When we stop witnessing, we raise wanderers.”
