The Confidence We Have in Him 11am
The Throne â Lesson Four: The Confidence We Have in Him
đ Â Date:Â December 21, 2025
đ Primary Text: 1 John 5:14â15
âNow this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.â
(1 John 5:14â15, NKJV)
I. Confidence: A Kingdom Mindset Rooted in Christ
Amplified Bible
âThis is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before HimâŠâ
Confidence (Greek: ÏαÏÏηÏία - parrÄsĂa):
Boldness, assurance, freedom of access â not rooted in performance, but in position and relationship.
II. Victory Through Christ's Finished Work
Recap from Previous Teaching:
Christ disarmed the enemy: (Colossians 2:15)
Raised us up to sit with Him: (Ephesians 2:6)
We are now seated far above principalities and powers: (Ephesians 1:21â23)
Truth:
You can be legally delivered and spiritually victorious â yet live mentally defeated without revelation.
Israel was freed from Egypt in a day â but Egypt stayed in their mindset for 40 years.
III. Walking in Authority Requires a Renewed Mindset
 Colossians 3:1â3
âIf then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are aboveâŠÂ Set your mind on things aboveâŠâ
Greek Breakdown
Seek (zÄteĆ):Â to pursue with intention; active, ongoing pursuit.
Set your mind (phroneĆ):Â to adopt a mindset or inward disposition.
Present active imperative:Â A continual, deliberate posture â not occasional thoughts.
Key Thought:
âYou will not walk in what you refuse to pursue or mentally align with.â
IV. What Are We Seeking?
Colossians 3:3â17 outlines the âthings aboveâ:
The reign of Christ
The values of the Kingdom
Our identity in Him
An eternal perspective
The glory to come
To set your mind on things above means:
Training your thinking through the Word
Allowing Christâs and His work to shape your attitudes
Refusing to let culture, this world, or flesh define your outlook
V. Victory Must Be Lived Through Revelation
 Ephesians 1:18
âThe eyes of your understanding being enlightenedâŠâ
Greek Key Words:
Ploutos â Riches, abundance, inexhaustible wealth
Doxa â Glory, divine radiance, manifest presence
KlÄronomia â Inheritance; allotted legal portion
Paulâs Prayer Focus:
Paul isnât praying for us to get more glory, but to recognize the glory already invested in what God values!
âYou are His inheritance. His glory is in you. And your confidence flows from revelation, not addition.â
VI. Glory Already Invested in the Saints
John 17:22
âAnd the glory which You gave Me, I have given themâŠâ
 Colossians 1:27
ââŠChrist in you, the hope (confident expectation) of glory.â
Key Thought:
Christ doesnât just give glory â He is the glory living within us.
We donât reach for glory â we release it.
VII. The Enemy Exploits IGNORANCE and PASSIVITY
Satan is disarmed, but he thrives in:
areas we ignoreÂ
areas we leave unguarded
areas we leave unhealed
areas we donât surrender
areas we donât renew the mind
Satan does control our flesh, he exploits it!Â
Mark 7:21â23
The flesh is the source of defeat â not always the devil.
VIII. Discipline the Flesh, Renew the Mind
 Galatians 5:17
âThe flesh lusts against the SpiritâŠâ
 Colossians 3:5â10
âPut to death your members⊠put off the old man⊠put on the new manâŠâ
 Spiritual Authority requires:
Crucified flesh
Renewed mind
Pursuit of Kingdom realities
Confidence rooted in identity
IX. The Fullness of Him In Us and Through Us
Ephesians 1:23
ââŠwhich is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.â
The complete expression (plÄrĆma) of Christ, who Himself fills (plÄroun) the entire created order with His presence and glory.
Colossians 3:11
âChrist is all, and in all.â
âChrist is allâÂ
This points to the indwelling of Christ in every believer through the Holy Spirit. No matter what your status is.Â
This means Christ is everything that matters and everything we need.
He is the source of our new life.
He is the center of our identity.
He is the standard by which all believers are measured and transformed.
Colossians 1:25â28 (AMP)
ââŠChrist in and among you, the hope and guarantee of [realizing the] gloryâŠâ
X. Closing: Confidence in Him
âThis is the confidence we have⊠IN HIM.â (1 John 5:14)
Remember This:
Confidence Comes From Relationship, Not Performance
Rooted in trust, not task
In union, not effort
In knowing Him, not just knowing about Him
Confidence Grows Where Flesh Dies
Uncrucified flesh = Unstable confidence
Crucified flesh = Clear communion
âFlesh says: I hope He hears me.
Faith says: I know He hears me.â
Confidence Is Anchored in His Character
He is faithful to His will
He hears us when weâre aligned, not just emotional
Confidence Produces Authority
We speak not just as petitioners, but as partners in heavenâs legal decree.
